Payroll & Accounts Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen here at JMC Recruitment Solutions for a Payroll & Accounts Assistant to join our existing team in Exeter (near the airport) on a permanent basis.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To maintain and input payroll information in a precise and accurate manner
  • Provide payroll and accounts advice and information
  • Check, calculate and input weekly and monthly payroll data
  • Process weekly contractor payroll
  • Create new customer and supplier records on accounts software
  • Process and monitor all staffing changes including starters, leavers and other amendments to salaries and data in compliance with policy and payroll requirements
  • Check and process expense claims
  • Week end processes and reconciliation
  • Produce, record and upload sales invoices
  • Produce flight invoices
  • Input sales and purchase invoices onto system
  • Run reports to reconcile entries made to Sage
  • Prepare information to assist in the provision of information to external agencies as required

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Previous experience working within an office environment
  • Strong organisational skills
  • High level of confidentiality
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Willingness to always develop skills and knowledge
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work accurately and methodically with attention to detail
  • High level of numeracy and ability to deal accurately with calculations of a complex nature
  • Ability to organise, schedule and adapt work tasks to meet conflicting deadlines and respond to changing situations

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working within a similar role would be advantageous but not essential
  • Experience of using Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and database systems
  • Previous experience with Sage 50 Accounts and payroll software desirable however not essential

 

Qualifications:

  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent
  • Desirable for candidate to have minimum Level 2 AAT Accounts qualification or the willingness to work towards the qualification
